Date Knight

I cant believe I have not blogged in 2 weeks. With baseball, running, church and just life the blog is taking a little back seat. I'm back and I will play some catch up this week. Two Saturdays ago Landon and I attended an event called Date Knight at our local Chick-fil-a. It was an event they hosted for mother and sons. Our date was great, but as soon as we arrived and sat down Landon ditched me for the indoor playground.

We always love an appearance from the cow
Being knights

Good thing my friend Suzanne was there so I had someone to talk to since Landon ditched me for the playground.

We love chick-fil-a and support them probably more than we should ;o)

I ran my 5th half marathon today in downtown Nashville. More on that to come. This girl needs a shower and nap.

Labor Day Running

On Labor Day about 100 members of my running club, including myself ran in the Franklin Classic in Franklin, Tn. There were several distances to choose from. There was a 10K (6.2 miles), 5K (3.1 miles) and a kids fun run that was 1 mile. My running schedule called for 9 miles as my long run that last week, so I ran both the 10k and the 5k.

One of my running buddies, Dena and I after the 10k and waiting on the 5k to start
I paced my friend Angela in the 10K, which was great because she wanted to go a little slower and I didn't want to push myself since I had to run 3 more miles right after this 6.2. We finished in 1:08

As if running in the race wasn't enough excitement, guess who was also running? Nicole Kidman. Yep there she was right beside me running in the 1 mile run with her daughter. Not sure why she felt like she had to wear all this black running gear on such a hot day, but who cares shes Nicole Kidman. I'm thinking it was to protect her fair skin, maybe she had a event coming up and she could not get burned or tan lines. Who knows.
As if Nicole was not enough she also brought along her handsome hubby, Keith Urban and his buddy Dierks Bentley. I have lived in Nashville since 2004 and have never seen a celebrity until this day and a running event at all places.

It was a great day and a fun race that I will defiantly be running next year.

Happy 2nd Birthday Houston

I am a few days late on this post, but with school, baseball and my training schedule for running our family is busy.

Our little miracle, Houston, turned 2 years old on Tuesday, September 3. My once 2 lb 7 oz 15" preemie is now 2 years old. We had a small birthday party for him last week at home, but I did not take the first picture. My father-in-law took all the pictures from that day and I have not gotten back the CD of them all. On his actual birthday we still had work, school and Landon had baseball that night. So we just did a little cookout and cake with a few family and friends.

I did manage to find him a birthday boy shirt he wore all day
After school we had our little cookout and cake before baseball practice

Later that night Houston started wheezing real bad. He has had allergies for the last month, but never wheezing. Well since he had croup and RSV last year I know what to watch for and when to get the medication. I called the on call doctor since it was 7 pm when all this happened. She called in his breathing treatments and on his birthday before bed he got a breathing treatment.
He's a trooper.

For throwback Thursday here are a few pictures from Houston's birth.

September 3, 2011: 2 lbs. 7 oz. at 26 weeks
September 3, 2013: 28 lbs. at 2 years old; 66% percentile for weight
15" long at birth
35.5" long at 2 years old; 95% percentile
First time I was able to hold Houston at 3 days old

Our God is just truly amazing and Houston is our living miracle. He is a wonderful blessing and even though some days are tough with a toddler, I look back at the beginning and thank God I am able to have the good and bad days with him. That I am able to be his mother and be present for every milestone that he keeps achieving with flying colors.

Happy Birthday Houston!

Love,
Mom, dad and brother.
