Weekend wrap up

It's been pretty cold and rainy in Nashville this weekend, but that didn't stop Jason from working in the yard. Friday afternoon we had 1 ton of flat flagstone rock delivered to our house.

So all day yesterday Jason worked in the yard stacking the rock around our mailbox and outlined the flower bed in the front yard. Landon and I helped a little ;o)

This pretty much took up our whole day

After

We still need several scoops of new black mulch and a few more colorful flowers by the mailbox. We are really happy with the outcome since this was the first time we have done something like this.

After working in the yard we went to visit my brother-in-law at Vanderbilt hospital. He gave one of his kidneys to his brother 4 days ago. Both are doing great and went home today.

Today we went to church and ate lunch afterwards. My new kitchen chandelier came in friday so maybe we will work on getting it up today or at least this week.

Well I'm off to the grocery store. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Back to school tomorrow after being off for a week for spring break. Glad to get back in the routine.

A day at the zoo

Landon and I are on spring break this week and only 9 weeks till summer break. Friday we went to the Nashville zoo with a few friends.

He really like the flamingos

On the way home and he still has his map

It was HOT and very crowded so we did not stay long, but it was fun. I'm sure Landon and I will go several times during our summer break.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Zoeys adoption

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I hope you had a great day and you wore your green. Landon and I are officially on spring break for the next 10 days and I am singing O Happy Day.

St. Patrick's day is a special day for us because its the day we adopted Zoey. She was rescued from a puppy mill in 2006. She spent the 1st year of her life locked in a cage and used for breeding. A schnauzer rescue group pulled her from the puppy mill where she went to be with a foster family for a few months. I found the rescue group on the Internet in January 2007 where I saw her picture for the 1st time. We became her "furever" parents on March 17, 2007.

Paintings and sad news day

The last few months I have been transitioning Landon's nursery to more of an age appropriate big boy room. I bought him a new chest of drawers, book shelf, mattress, lamp and bedding. All I felt like I needed to complete his room was a few pieces of art work. I found a local girl who is a very talented artist and paints very cute pieces for kids. She actually paints on wood instead of canvas. I just emailed her a picture of his bedding and she painted the cars, trucks, airplanes, etc on the bedding to the exact tee. I am so happy with the outcome.

On another note:
Friday was a horrible news day wasnt it? I am still watching all the videos and photos from the tragic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I just cant imagine what they are going through and my heart and prayers go out to everyone who is affected by all the devastation in that region.
Also on friday afternoon a small engine plane crashed in the field right beside our church and about 3 miles from our home. All three people including the pilot were instantly killed. They took off at our towns airport and was in the air for about 2-3 mins before they crashed into the field. The news said they had engine trouble. The small field was right in the middle of our church, a grocery store, high school and homes. I am sadden that they crashed, but I am relived the pilot had a field to land in and not harm anyone on the ground. I am praying for the families of the victims and hope they can get answers quickly.

New mothers necklace

A few weeks ago I was reading Katie's Keepers blog and she was giving away a piece of personalized jewelry from leelynncrafts.com. Well I didn't win, but I liked her jewelry so much I bought one for myself as an early mothers day gift. haha ;o)
Here is the necklace I bought, but with Landon's name and with a ruby

New kitchen chandelier

Another home improvement

We just ordered a new kitchen chandelier

We have an island in the middle of our kitchen so I am going to hang it over that. Right now we have an out dated fluorescent light so it was time for an upgrade.

On another note. I went to pick up the items that did not sell this week at the consignment sale and I sold everything, but 1 pair of pants and 1 toy. I was very pleased to see lots of L's things sold. I am looking forward to receiving a good check. ;o)

Hope everyone has a great week. Spring break in 2 weeks ;o)
