Random Happenings

Not much to blog about today, but just some random happenings at our house

Santa came early and brought Landon a new bunk bed. It's a twin size on top and a full bed on bottom
It also has two HUGE drawers under the bed for storage that's on rollers. My organizing OCD loves that
When Houston arrived our guest room became his room. So when we have family or friends spend the night they have to sleep on an air mattress. So we just gave in and finally found someone that would build what we wanted and stain it the color we picked as well. So far Landon LOVES it and he LOVES sleeping on the top bunk. It's also stack able so if we ever want to de attached them into two separate beds we can
My friend Amanda has been posting on her blog about these super cute necklaces. When I got on their website to check them out they were on sale and free shipping. So I bought 4 of them. Two for me, a red and blue one and two for Christmas presents.
Today their whole website is 15% off for Cyber Monday
This little guy had his first ever ear infection last week and a double one at that. His eyes were blood shot due to drainage out of them.
But that didn't stop him from climbing into the bath tub with Landon fully clothed
The boys usually bathe together, but since H was sick we bathe them separate. Well I went to put a load of laundry in the dryer which is right next to their bathroom and I came back to find H in the tub. Landon even said he didn't help him get in there that H did it himself.
I found this chicken wire, burlap blue frame and now I'm trying to figure out where to hang it. I thought it was cute and it was cheap
That about sums up our random happenings. We were able to get Christmas decorations up before the stomach bug hit Jason, Landon and I Saturday night. Were all finally on the mends.

Happy Monday!

Thanksgiving 2012

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. My dad and step mom came into town Thursday night from Florida, so we have been enjoying them being here with us for Thanksgiving. Yesterday morning I woke up bright and early to run a 4 miler in Murfreesboro, called the BoroDash.

There were 3,000 runners. Can you believe 3,000 people wanted to run on Thanksgiving morning?
Yes were crazy

A year ago I would have never dreamed I would voluntarily get up at 5:45 am to run 4 miles

Some girlfriends and I at the race

I ran the 4 miles in about 42 minutes. It was a nice and pretty easy run

My dad, Brenda and Landon came to cheer me on

After the race we came home to start cooking. We ate about 1 pm and then I had a little Thanksgiving day nap. After my nap Jason took me to see the last Twilight movie. The boys stayed at home with the grandparents.
We went to an early movie and was back home by 7:30 pm. It was a great day spending time with our family and having the boys enjoy the grandparents.

Let the holidays begin!

Thanksgiving Day Program

Today Landon had his Thanksgiving Day program. It was a quick little program where they sang a few songs and then we had a snack with them.

This was right before the program. I was able to step out of my room and get a quick picture
Landon's class were the drumsticks so they wore drumsticks on their head
I gave up dressing Landon months ago because it was a battle I was tired of fighting. This is what he choose to wear today. Very festive I know ;o)
Singing with his classmates

All of the Pre-k classes
Hard to believe he is in Pre-K and this is his last Thanksgiving day program at his preschool
Daddy came to watch

The crafts he made for us. This is a little Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus in a manger he hand painted
His class also made Christmas light cards with his finger prints as the lights
His place mat with his name and his drumstick hat
Houston's class was in the program as well, but he has had a double ear infection for the last 3 days so he has been out of school all week. Were finally on the mends today.

Today was our last day of school for the week and we are officially on Thanksgiving break. I love being apart of the school system.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Christmas at Biltmore

The last few days have been great and I have the most amazing husband ever. I sure don't know what I did to deserve him, but I'm glad he's mine forever. He planned the last three days all on his own and took me to see the Biltmore Estate for the candlelight Christmas and the behind the scene tours of Biltmore. We visited Biltmore in April 2010 for our 5 year wedding anniversary and it was a great trip. During that trip we did the tour of just the house and grounds. This time we went at night to enjoy the Christmas lights in the house and then the next day we did the extra behind the scene tours that's not open to the public on the regular tour.

We stayed at the Hilton at Biltmore Park. It was so NICE
Driving up to the Biltmore at sunset for the Christmas tour Friday night
We could not take pictures inside the house, so I was just able to get some outside before it got dark

Saturday we toured the house again and then we did two behind the scene tours

Outside view of the grand staircase. There are two statues in his picture that hang from the staircase. The figure on the left is Joan of Arc and the figure on the right is Louie the 9th
Our first behind the scene tour was the Architectural Tour. We were able to go on the roof tops and most of the balconies. This was the view from one of the front balconies
 View of the Italian gardens
We were able to touch one of the 117 year old statues that's placed on the front of the house
Top view of the winter garden
The roof top. Notice the GV in the copper? Those are George Vanderbilt's initial's, the man who built Biltmore, and its all around the house. They use to be gold plated, but over time the gold has worn away. You could still see a little gold flake still remaining

The statue on the right just made me laugh. It's a bear holding a honey pot. No one knows why he's there, but he is and I just thought he was kinda neat
We were on the personal balcony of George Vanderbilt. This was his backyard view

After the Architectural Tour we did the butler tour, but that was all in the house and we were not able to take any pictures. That was a great tour as well. We were able to see bathrooms, closets, butler kitchens and pantries, lady maids quarters, sewing room, etc....

This house is just AMAZING. I'm not really a history buff, but I really do enjoy this house and learning about the history behind her. We were told they just received a grant to renovate more rooms to open to the public so I will defiantly be going back in a few years to see the new open wings of the home.

Karate

When Landon came home from his nana's house last week he also came home with Jason's old karate gear. Landon LOVES to play karate so when he found the gear in their basement he was very excited and wanted to play right away.

Geared up
Sparing with daddy
And I could not leave out this little guy
He already loves the camera

Tomorrow Jason and I are headed to Christmas at Biltmore. SO EXCITED for our weekend away just us.
Happy Thursday!
